Nikolaev temples
Price: 90.00 USD (1 person) - 100.00 USD (up to 4 persons)
There were 45 churches in our city before the 1917. Among them were the Orthodox churches, Catholic cathedral, Lutheran church, Jewish synagogues. One can see majestic icons in Nikolaev churches as well as the ancient iconostasis, can stand by the tombs of the churches founders (they are buried in the churches’ vaults), enjoy wall paintings in the revived churches.
… A couple of years ago a coffin was found in the vault of one of the churches: a clothed female skeleton, a hand clenching a cross and a dried bunch of flowers. Who was she and why was she buried in a deep vault?
… In the period of the churches’ destruction the soil was often sinking under the feet of the people, opening mysterious underground tunnels. Where do they lead? Why were the churches built over them? What was discovered down there?
… While repairing a church, bullet holes were noticed on one of the icons. Who could raise his hand against the sacred? And why did the founder of the Catholic church bequeathed to bury himself in a catacomb under the church? And how Saint Nicholas saved our city during the war – all of this you can hear and see during the excursion.
Excursion duration is 2 hours and it includes transportation by car, professional guide and interpreter.
